The graduate program in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering is known worldwide for developing students into leaders in engineering practice, research, and education. We welcome applications from highly qualified and motivated students for the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees.
The complex problems surrounding the nexus of cities, water and energy demand that engineers have increased breadth and depth of knowledge. CAEE strives to provide students with the educational background and teamwork needed to innovate future solutions, technologies, and sustainable systems. We are dedicated to creative, comprehensive teaching and research that ranges from fundamental to applied.
Our many research centers provide graduate students with the opportunity to explore their areas of interest and to be a part of a supportive, intellectually stimulating community. With state-of-the-art facilities, the CAEE graduate program is designed to educate engineers who will be at the forefront of the profession in industry, academia, civil service, and beyond.
The department offers the Master of Science in Engineering degree in Civil Engineering and Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is offered only in Civil Engineering. Applicants interested in graduate studies in Architectural Engineering should apply to Civil Engineering.
The Building Energy and Environments program at the University of Texas at Austin consists of a community of over 35 scholars (faculty, staff, postdocs and students) who investigate a wide range of issues related to building environments. Program research focuses on: Energy flows and conservation methods, Moisture transport, control and effects, Microbial growth and fate, Sources of VOCs, SVOCs, and particles, Transport of indoor pollutants, Homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, Physical removal of gases and particles on surfaces, Human exposure to indoor pollutants and Control of indoor pollutants.
