Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology

The University of Toledo's Clinical Psychology doctoral program has a long history of providing superior training in the science and practice of psychology.

UToledo has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1979. We offer a science-based, flexible program that focuses on three traditional functions clinical research, assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy.

UToledo's Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program emphasizes both research and practice. Our graduate students obtain strong research and statistical skills, as well as exceptional training in evidence-based practice and empirically-supported principles and treatments.

At least three letters of recommendation - submitted electronically by letter writers. A statement of purpose of no more than two single-spaced pages. A curriculum vitae. Additionally, the following application materials MUST be submitted (but NOT online):

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytic Writing (our institution code is 1845). For the Clinical Program, the GRE Psychology Subject Test is not required for application to the program. However, if admitted, all students who enter the program will be required to demonstrate undergraduate coursework in each of the following areas of psychology: Affective (Emotion), Biological, Cognitive, Developmental, Social OR to take the GRE Psychology Subject Test. College transcripts (and graduate school transcripts, if applicable) showing all previous academic work and degrees. (An up-to-date unofficial transcript may facilitate consideration, but an official transcript is needed.) The top 20-30 applicants are typically asked to come for an interview. We invite selected applicants to attend one of two interview days in early February. Applicants invited to join us on one of those designated days will receive an invitation via email late in December. Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university required , The College of Graduate Studies requires official transcripts from all universities/colleges you are currently attending or have attended. In addition to the official, final transcripts, you must also provide official certified, or attested copies of all graduation certificates, diplomas or degree certificates needed to fulfill your admission.
