Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education - English Education

If you love language, reading, or writing and desire to share those interests with others, University of Wyoming's Secondary Education English Education Bachelor of Arts degree will be a perfect fit. As a middle or high school English Language Arts teacher, you help children get excited about using language as a source of knowledge and source of personal enjoyment.

As a UW student, you will learn from experienced faculty members as you perfect your literary analysis and writing skills and build literacy awareness. You will gain broad knowledge of pedagogy, assessment, and special education. Students will also take courses in linguistics, literature, and a foreign language. Teaching experiences, both virtual and in person, will help you gain the skills and confidence you will need to prepare for your future classrooms.

Learn from experienced faculty members and gain a concurrent major in English to perfect your content knowledge, literary analysis, and writing skills while honing your instructional expertise from English education faculty. English education program is Nationally Recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Graduates will leave the program with the ability to teach secondary students how to comprehend, analyze, understand, interpret, evaluate, and appreciate all types of texts. You will improve students abilities to communicate their thoughts through writing and discussion in creative and reflective ways.

A cumulative, unweighted high school GPA of 3.00-4.00 (on a 4.0 scale) for assured admission.
Minimum score 71 for iBT OR 6.0 IELTS OR 169 Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency. All test scores must be official and sent directly from the testing agency.
