Academic English Program 10 weeks

You will develop the English language and academic literacy skills required for successful entry to an English speaking university. The Academic English Program will help you develop your ability to participate confidently within the university community. Academic English for Foundation: Successful completion of Academic English for Foundation (AE3) allows direct entry into UTS Foundation Studies and the UTS College Extended Diploma program (with entry requirements of IELTS 5.5). Academic English for Diploma: Successful completion of Academic English for Diploma (AE4) allows direct entry into UTS College Standard or Accelerated Diploma programs (courses with entry requirement of IELTS 6.0). Academic English for BachelorMaster: Successful completion of Academic English for BachelorMaster (AE5) allows direct entry into most UTS undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (with entry requirements of IELTS 6.5). General: Students must be at least 16 years of age at commencement of the Academic English program. Outcomes: Develop the confidence to interact in social situations and learn the skills you will need to succeed in UTS Foundation Studies and UTS College diploma programs. Examples of skills you will learn: Advanced academic writing; Advanced participation in seminars and tutorials; Listening and note-taking skills for academic study; Understanding detailed academic lectures; Reading and researching complex academic texts; Advanced cultural interaction skills; Academic conversational skills and strategies.
