Family Studies prepares you to work in family counseling centers, parent education organizations, family crisis centers, women's shelters, and other settings that provide services to families. The study of how children, youth, adults, and families develop, change, and face challenges throughout their lives, this program teaches you how to find compassionate and people-first solutions for the problems in our world. We study how children, youth, adults, and families develop, change, and face challenges throughout their lifespan (childhood, adolescence, adulthood). We are a multidisciplinary department devoted to understanding the nature of human development within the context of families, schools, and communities. Through our teaching, research, and outreach programs, we promote the healthy development of children, adults, and their families in the state of Washington and throughout the nation.
