Doctor of Philosophy in Education - Language, Literacy and Technology

The Language, Literacy, and Technology (LLT) graduate program is valued by potential students, graduates, and institutions as rigorous, relevant, and innovative, offering superior quality professional preparation that produces exceptional and creative researchers and teachers with a focus on improving the lives of students, teachers, and schools. The Ph.D. in Language, Literacy, and Technology emphasizes the generation, application, and translation of research that will enhance the field of education through the exploration of language, literacy, and technology. LLT doctoral program is used: 1) to promote a deeper understanding of the influences of language, literacy, and technology by conducting and supporting high-quality research, 2) to support and promote high-quality instruction in the three areas and integrated contexts in both formal and informal settings, and 3) to understand how human development, culture, policy, knowledge of language, and other issues support and shape language, literacy, and technology practices.

Applicants must have a degree from an accredited 4-year institution and a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale. Complete the WSU Graduate School's online application, Official transcripts, a supplemental department application, Resume or Vitae, a writing sample, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation as described on the supplemental department application.

Applicants with at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) grade point Avg, or the equivalent in the last 60 graded semester (90 quarter) hours, from an accredited college or university, or at least a B grade point Avg in any graduate work from a recognized graduate school are eligible for admission to regular student status. Applicants with at least 12 semester hours of approved coursework from accredited graduate schools with at least a B grade point Avg are eligible for admission to regular student status.
