1. Australian National University (ANU) directly admits Vietnamese students

The Australian National University (ANU) is a world-leading public research university located in Canberra, the 5th healthiest city in the world (Money.co.uk Survey 2021). Ranked #4 in Australia and #30 in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025), ANU has always focused on top-notch teaching and research quality to support students to develop holistically.

1.1. New policy on admission from ANU

The Australian National University (ANU) has officially applied a new policy to consider the Year 12 GPA of students from a list of 92 schools to consider the Letter of Offer.

Students may supplement their Provisional High School Diploma or Official Diploma after admission to ANU. This is an important policy change to meet the needs of early admission of students who wish to enter the intake in July every year at ANU.

The new policy will be widely applied to all applications for intake admission in July 2024. For students applying for intake admission in February 2024, ANU will consider and evaluate to apply the new admission policy on each application.

1.3. Grade 12 GPA to ATAR conversion table

In parallel with the change in admissions, ANU also changed the grade point average conversion scale of 12 GPA to ATAR below. Outstanding Vietnamese students can now apply for all Bachelor's courses at ANU based on their grade 12 GPA.

2. The University of Melbourne directly admits Vietnamese students

2.1. Direct admission policy of the University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne directly admits students from 12 specialized high schools and scores in Vietnam, of which Hanoi has 6 schools, Ho Chi Minh City 4 and Da Nang 1. Students need a GPA between 8.5 and 9.0 and a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (no band below 6.0).

3. The University of Queensland directly recruits students from all Vietnamese high schools

Founded in 1909,University of Queensland (UQ)is one of Australia's leading research and teaching institutions. The university is ranked #40 in the list of top universities in the world (QS World University Rankings 2025).

UQ is one of the founding members ofGroup of Eight, a group of leading universities in Australia, plays an important role in all undergraduate research in Australia, and is also one of only three members of The Global Universitas 21, an alliance that allows UQ students to participate in student exchanges and events around the world.

3.1. The University of Queensland's policy on direct admission of Vietnamese students

Students who have completed the high school program, have a high school diploma (Baccalaureate Degree) and meet the entrance score required by the University of Queensland (UQ) will be considered for direct admission to the University of Queensland's Bachelor of Dental Science Honours program (not applicable to the Bachelor of Dental Science Honours program - Program code: 2367 and Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics Honours - Program Code: 2140).

This policy is applied on a pilot basis for three years, from 2023 to 2026, after which the effectiveness will be reviewed and adjusted if necessary.

4. Direct admission opportunities to the University of Sydney for high school graduates in Vietnam

Based on the academic capacity and study abroad needs of Vietnamese students, especially in public high schools, the University of Sydney has made important changes in the entrance requirements at the undergraduate level. In addition to the list of 24 recognized Vietnamese high schools that have been announced since the end of 2017, the University of Sydney has now added more Vietnamese high schools that are considered for direct admission:

  • Accepting all specialized/gifted high schools in all provinces and cities in Vietnam. As long as students graduate from the High School for the Gifted, they will be able to use their grade 12 scores to be considered for admission to the University of Sydney

  • In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – where many schools are concentrated but are not called "specialized schools" – in addition to schools that have been accredited since 2017*, the University of Sydney has also expanded the list of schools as below:
