Since November 16, 2019, the Australian Government has made priority policies related to Regional Australia (Regional Australia). Besides major cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, all cities in Australia are now called Regional.
The concept of Regional Australia was introduced to promote urbanization in settlements (also known as regional centers). This has special implications for economic development, education, and attracting immigrants and international students to work and study in the region.

2.1 "Major cities"
Type 1: These are cities that are quite familiar to Australian students. The concept of "Major cities" includes three major cities: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. As these cities are not on the Regional Australia list, the stay-at-home policy remains the same:
● Bachelor's and Master's degrees: 2 years
● Research masters: 3 years
● Ph.D.: 4 years
2.2 "Cities and Major Regional Centres"
Category 2: This area includes cities and central areas such as Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Newcastle/Lake Macquarie, Wollongong/Illawarra, Geelong, and Hobart.
If you are an international student studying in this region, you will enjoy preferential policies including International students studying under the 485 visa will have an additional 1 year to stay in Australia to work after graduating with a Bachelor's degree or higher at one of the universities in these cities, Specifically:

2.3 Areas other than the above two areas
Category 3: In all regions other than those mentioned above, international students will be able to stay for an additional 2 years on Visa 485 upon graduation at the Bachelor's level or higher, specifically:
