Things to know about Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

After graduating in Canada, you can easily apply for a work permit and then a permanent residence card. If you want to work here after graduation, you can apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. Or you can also apply for a permanent residence card (Permanent Residency - PR) through the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker Program, or Provincial Nominee Program.

According to the Canadian Immigration Agency, to apply for a Canadian work permit, you need to meet the following conditions:

Have completed a full-time study program of at least 8 months in Canada.

Graduated from a government-authorized public or private school

Apply for a work permit within 180 days of receiving confirmation of completion of the study program

Have notice of eligibility to receive a diploma or certificate

Have a valid Canadian student visa or Canadian study permit

PGWP allows international students after graduation to gain valuable work experience in Canada. If you plan to live in Canada later, work experience here is important and can help you obtain permanent residency through Express Entry.

Once you have worked full-time in Canada for 12 months, you can apply for permanent residency through the Canadian Experience Class. Furthermore, PGWP also allows you to work in Canada for 3 years. This is a good opportunity for you to truly experience Canadian culture and an international working environment to "beautify" your CV in the future.
