Finally, the selected candidate can be invited to attend the interview round. Let's take a look at the steps to prepare an application for a study abroad scholarship.

1. Personal essay

Schools when applying for admissionscholarshipall require candidates to write a personal essay of about 500 words. This is an opportunity for you to introduce yourself, show your personality as well as let the admissions committee know that you are their best candidate. Frequently asked questions such as: why did you choose the scholarship and this major of the university? What do you understand about the school? Why do you deserve a scholarship? Career direction and personal aspirations or share the experiences and successes you have achieved.

2. Letters of recommendation

This is not required but if you have it in your resume it is great because it adds to the persuasiveness of your essay. Teachers are people who are in close contact with and understand students well, so if you get compliments and in-depth comments about your personality and academic achievements from teachers, it will make a good impression and it will be easy to score points with the admissions committee. But don't overdo it, overdoing it can have the opposite effect or reduce the credibility of the Letters of Recommendation.

3. Extracurricular activities

  • Extracurricular activities are voluntary participation programs in class/school or outside society in many different forms: art, culture, volunteering, sports, etc. is an opportunity for you to develop your skills and life experience.

  • This is a very important condition in the application for a scholarship to study in Australia because it shows your dynamism, leadership and knowledge through the activities you have participated in. In addition to a respectable academic record at school, your profile will be great if you can provide a list of extracurricular activities you have participated in that demonstrate teamwork, communication skills, leadership and problem-solving. But those activities must be long-term, focused, with passion and obvious dedication.

4. Interview (Subject to the school's requirements)

You should know the following information to prepare well for the interview because this is the last round of admissions, you should take advantage of the opportunity to get points with the admissions committee:

  • It is necessary to carefully research the information about the scholarship, the school, and the course you are applying to, as well as the students that the program is targeting

  • Identify your outstanding strengths to convince you to be the most worthy person

  • Good preparation, a mature personality, and a calm attitude during the interview are the most important factors that determine the outcome

  • Accurately record information about the time and find out the interview location. Do not be late or at the wrong interview location because then the admissions committee will judge you as not knowing how to arrange your time and not taking their scholarship seriously

  • Polite and courteous clothes plus a confident and comfortable demeanor in the interview also made a good impression on the judges.
