Exam IELTS Writing Academic lasts for 60 minutes and includes 2 writing tasks Task 1 (requires at least 150 words) and Task 2 (requires at least 250 words). Both must be written in formal language.

IELTS WRITING TASK 1

The task requires describing some information through charts, tables, diagrams in your own words. Other requirements may include describing and explaining data, describing the steps of any process, how information changes, or writing about an event or an object. The exam IELTS Writing Task 1 needs to ensure at least 150 words, with a duration of about 20 minutes.

IELTS WRITING TASK 2

You need to write an essay of at least 250 words in about 40 minutes, expressing personal opinions or debating an issue.

Note: the exam IELTS Writing Academic and the exam IELTS Writing General Training are completely different.
