BSc (Hons) Physical Geography

Study Physical Geography at Newcastle and develop the scientific knowledge, skills and understanding for a career addressing the global challenges facing our natural environments.
This degree allows you to focus on physical geography from the very start. You'll develop a deep understanding of the processes that shape our planet and gain advanced GIS and remote sensing skills.

You'll receive a thorough grounding in the concepts and techniques of physical geography in Stage 1. In Stages 2 and 3, you will be able to choose from a range of modules in Geography and Civil Engineering. You will be able to apply the skills you gain in the field, both in our geographically diverse region and during a residential field trip in Stage 2.

A-Level
ABB and at least one science-related subject from Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computing, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Further Maths, Geology, Human Biology, Marine Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Pure Maths, Science (applied). General Studies is not accepted. For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element. GCSE Mathematics is required (minimum grade C or 4) if not offered at a higher level.
International Baccalaureate
A minimum of 32 points and one science at Higher Level grade 6 from Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics, Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies required at Grade 4 if not offered at Higher Level
IELTS - Applicants whose first language is not English require a minimum score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent with no less than 5.5 in each of the four elements of the test
TOEFL iBT - 90 overall (with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing)
