Master of Arts in Classics

Students in the Master of Arts in Classics program will develop mastery in the fields of classical studies, ancient Greek and Latin.
Students of Classics gain all the traditional benefits of a liberal arts education. These benefits include the ability to identify, analyze and solve problems,to interpret information critically and imaginatively, and to focus upon essential details,to integrate knowledge gained from a variety of sources,to present arguments clearly and persuasively in writing and orally, to work independently and under pressure.Our students have the added advantage of focusing on two civilizations -- Greek and Roman -- that were astonishingly creative and dynamic, as well as being unmatched in their influence on Western civilization. Students who take a Major or Minor in Classics do not commit themselves to one specific career. Instead, they have the flexibility and transferable skills to take up careers in many different fields, either directly or after further study. In recent years, these careers have included law, medicine, museum and archival work, publishing, education, journalism and the media, the tourism industry, financial services, real estate, the armed forces, hospitality services, human resources, graphic design, the list goes on. The M.A. may be earned either through a combination of coursework and thesis or coursework and comprehensive examination.
Expected Duration - 2 years.

You must have, as a minimum, an Honours (four-year bachelor's) degree or equivalent from a recognized college or university.
